Vikings Suffer Setback in Ramapo
10/26/08
The Vikings traveled to Ramapo this past weekend to face the Yellow Jackets. It was the first meeting between two equally talented teams.
The first quarter saw the two teams play one another evenly as both teams fought for field position. On offense, quarterback D’Wayne White would lead the Vikings passing attack, while Nasheim Hiland, Jalen Young, and Jordan Lewis would contribute to the Vikings running game. Throughout the game the Viking defense was lead by Makai Johnson, Stuart Wallace, Zachary Lyttle, Aidan Lilly, and Najee Bass
In the second quarter, Ramapo was able to gain an advantage with an offensive drive that ended with a long touchdown run against the Viking defense. Giving Ramapo a 6-0 lead.
The Vikings would regroup and move the football downfield. However, with the ball inside of the fifteen yard line the Viking offense would fumble the ball away to Ramapo. Ramapo would take advantage of the fumble by driving downfield and scoring to extend their lead to 12-0 at the end of the third quarter. The quarter was hi-lighted by strong play by Luke Clifford, Jarrett Haines, Tijier Moreno, and Benjamin Peters.
The Vikings did not give up. In the fourth quarter they mounted another drive against the Ramapo defense. But Ramapo ended the Viking scoring threat when the Viking quarterback was intercepted by a Ramapo defender, who then ran the ball back 70 yards for a touchdown, making the final score 18-0.
Other Vikings who played well were Keion Jones, Jihad Clarke, Donte Williams, Drew Tommarello, Ryan Love, Jordan Forrest, Daron Long, Jarod Baron, Jake Tommarello, Tairus White-Edney, Jaylin McGhee, Brandon Pennie and Khairi Manns
