Vikings Battle Crusaders
10/21/07

On Sunday the Vikings hosted a strong Monroe-Woodbury team looking to build on their recent improved play. The Vikings opened with strong defensive play by Marquez Jackson(42), Narenzo Kershaw(17) and Tino D'Abruzzo(50). However, the Crusaders were able to score on a long run. The Vikings responded with runs by main runner Myson Robinson(25) and Marlon Riley(19), who has been a newcomer in recent weeks in the Viking backfield.

Although the offense moved the ball they turned the ball over on downs. Monroe-Woodbury then added another scoring drive.  In the second quarter the Viking offense came alive thanks to the running of Raymond Miller(9). Miller took the snap from center and ran 81 yards around left end for the Viking score, reducing the Crusader lead to one touchdown. The Viking offense fumbled on offense on two of their next four series before the half. The fumbles gave the Crusaders great field position and they connverted that field position into touchdowns. The Viking defense played a tough game, but were hurt by defending their end-zone too many times due to offensive fumbles. However, it is clear to see that Viking players have individually become better football players.

Vikings who also played well in this game were Rashan Sullins(98), Tiason Moreno(22), Joshua Watts(10), Christian Ancrum(51), Romeo Holden(27), Jahkim McCain(49), and Christian Brunson(74).

For the 2007 season, game articles, photos and possible video will be posted mid-week following Sunday's games. Stay tuned.
