Vikings Called Back Against Eastchester
10/14/07
The Mitey-Mite Vikings closed the day of football against Eastchester on Sunday. Many of those who left early missed an opportunity to see how much this team has improved this year. The Vikings began the day on offense and proceeded to move the ball downfield thanks to runs by Tiason Moreno(22) and Romeo Holden(27).
The Viking offense was able to get down to the Eastchester 35 yard line before turning the ball over on downs. Eastchester then drove the ball downfield and scored the first touchdown of the game. The Vikings then returned to offense and moved the ball downfield once again. Raymond Miller(9) hi-lighted this drive with a 40 yard run around right end. Moreno(22) then raced 30 yards around left end for the Viking tying touchdown. However, the touchdown was called back due to a penalty. The Viking offense was seemingly unfazed about losing the touchdown because on the very next play, Holden(27) sprinted 40 yards for a touchdown. But, once again the referees called holding against the Vikings and this tying touchdown was also called back. Eventually the Vikings turned the ball over on downs. Eastchester then drove downfield again despite the efforts of Christian Ancrum(51) on defense, who chased down a Eastchester ballcarrier after a 40 yard gain. Eastchester scored on the drive anyway and they took a 15-0 (with extra-point kick) lead into the half.
In the second half the Viking defense led by Ancrum(51), Holden(27), Willioam Nowlin(70), Narenzo Kershaw(17), Myson Robinson(25) and Marquez Jackson(42) held Eastchester as well as can be expected. However, the Viking offense was unable to move the ball as well as they did in the first half. Eventually Eastchester scored once in the third quarter and again late in the fourth quarter.
For the 2007 season, game articles, photos and possible video will be posted mid-week following Sunday's games. Stay tuned.
