Vikings Roll vs Suffern
10/4/09
On Sunday 10/4 the Mitey-mite Vikings faced Suffern at Fosina field a week after facing them at Mitey-mite day.
The Vikings wasted no time in showing that they came to play when on the first play of the game Jarod Baron raced 60 yards into the end-zone for the opening Viking score.
Omari Walker, Jake Tommarello, and Michael Coughlin, held Suffern on the next defensive series and the Viking offense went back to work.
Drew Tommarello then weaved in and out of the Suffern defense for a long run into Suffern territory. The Vikings eventually punch the ball into the end-zone on the drive when Daron Long scored from two yards out.
Drew Tommarello helped the Vikings next offensive drive with a 40 yard run. Jarett Haines would run the ball down to the four yard line before taking it in on the next play for the third Viking touchdown. The Jordan Forrest extra point kick was successful. Defense by Daron Long (interception), Liam Vanderberg, and Corey Baron helped the Vikings keep Suffern out of the end-zone for the remainder of the half.
In the third quarter, Suffern drove and scored a touchdown on the Vikings defense to close the score. Jarod Baron and Jaret Haines would bounce back on the next Viking offensive series, running the ball inside of the thirty yard line. Gabriel Ford, Perron Gregory, Richard Reiman, Richard Dixon-King, Christopher White, and Michael Reedy opened the holes for Baron and Lewis. A Jordan Forrest block then helped spring Jordan Lewis for a 20 yard touchdown and the Vikings fourth score of the day.
Suffern mixed in run and pass plays and ended their next offensive drive with a twenty five yard touchdown for the final game scoring.
Other Vikings who played well included Meki Benjamin, Cervantes Wilson, Aidan Lilly, Jaylin Mcghee, Billy Hollis-Ragin, Joel Cooper, Tijier Moreno, Rahim Rooney, Mahaj Everett, Sincere Thomas, Javon Walker, and Jihad Clarke.
