Vikings Shutout Opponent
9/21/08

The Vikings traveled to Monroe-Woodbury this past Sunday to face one of the two Mitey-Mite Crusader teams. After stopping the Crusader offense and retrieving the ball, the Viking offense jumped out quickly on their opponent. Jalen Young continued his weekly touchdown assault with a 60 yard sprint around left end to give the Vikings a quick 6-0 lead. Dwayne White added the extra point run.

The Viking defense played tough all day, as evidenced by the shutout. the defense was lead by Jihad Clarke, Tijier Moreno, Keion Jones, Benjamin Peters, and Khairi Manns. Towards the end of the first quarter, Jalen Young ran for his second score of the game with a 30 yard sprint and teh Vikings led 13-0.

In the second quarter Jaylan McGhee burst through a hole and outran the Crusader secondary. Once the Vikings offense got the ball back. Jordan Lewis extended the Viking lead with a 33 yard halfback blast and Dwayne White added his second extra point run of the day to increase the Viking lead to 27-0 just before halftime.

The Vikings scored all of their points in the first half and in the second half the ‘B’ team held the Crusaders scoreless. Blocking by Jarrett Haines, Joel Cooper and Brandon Pennie, helped the Vikings run the ball.Other Vikings who played well were Jarod Baron, Jordan Forrest, Tairius White-Edney and Aidan Lilly.
