Vikings Remain Unbeaten
9/13/09
On Sunday the Vikings returned to Fosina Field for a game versus Valley Cottage. Once again the Vikings grinded out an impressive victory in the Mitey-Mite division.
The Vikings opened with their one-two combination of Jaylin Mcghee and Jarod Baron running the football. Drew Tommarello also added a few short runs that helped get the Vikings into scoring position. Jarod Baron would end the drive with a two yard touchdown run.
In the second quarter the Vikings defense would cause a fumble in Valley Cottage territory. Runs by Jake Tommarello and Jordan Forrest positioned the Vikings inside of the Indian twenty yard line. However, a Viking pass was intercepted in the end-zone and the Vikings remained ahead by one score at halftime.
In the second half the Viking offense came out determined. Jake Tommarello started the drive with his nifty running. Jordan Lewis put the Vikings ahead by two scores with an exciting sixty yard sprint and cutback touchdown run.
The Viking defense allowed only one touchdown to Valley Cottage with the help of Gabriel Ford, Richard Dixon-King, Michael Coughlin, Michael Reedy, Aidan Lilly, Richard Reiman, and Christopher White Jr.
In the fourth quarter Jordan Lewis helped extend the Vikings lead with and thirty yard pass to Jarett Haines inside of the twenty yard line. Drew Tommarello blasted off tackle for a ten yard touchdown to end the Viking scoring for the game.
Other Vikings who played well included Corey Baron, Cervantes Wilson, Jihad Clarke, Billy Hollis-Ragin, Tijier Moreno, Daron Long, Kenneth Collins, Mekhi Benjamin, Mahaj Everett, Sincere Thomas, Rahim Rooney, and Gregory Perron.
