T-BOLTs Fight in Tough 7-6 Setback

For the second time this season the T-Bolts played North Rockland in a tough game. In the two games played it is clear that the two teams are closely matched, but in each game the scoreboard has been in North Rockland’s favor.

The T-bolts came out looking to avenge the earlier loss. The defense came out hitting and caused a fumble that was recovered by Kiemon Barrow on the North Rockland 45 yard line. The T-bolt offense then took control with runs by Damarcus Miller, CJ Anthony and Jonathan Forrest that eventually put the T-bolt offense on the six yard line. Miller then followed Jonathan Yudell, Rakim Parker and Jordan Luzzi blocks into the end-zone. The fast starting game settled down for the rest of the half as the two teams battled for field position. Late in the second quarter Damarcus Miller followed a Javon Taylor block around right end for a 40 yard gain to the Red Raider 25 yard line. However a holding penalty on the next play pushed the T-bolts back and they lead at the half 6-0.

In the third quarter the T-bolts defense once again seemed to dominate. Bryson Hayes, Tyler Fernandez, and Rakim Parker helped push the North Rockland offense to its own 9 yard line. The Red Raider offense then completed a pitch pass downfield that was nearly intercepted by cornerback Bryson Hayes. The receiver then slipped a tackle and ran 91 yards for the tying touchdown. The Red Raider extra point run was good and they lead 7-6.

The T-bolts did not let up. The offense drove downfield against the Red Raiders thanks to Jonathan Forrest and Bryson Hayes running. Tyler Fernandez then ran 10 yards and had a North Rockland personal foul added which put the ball on the North Rockland twenty yard line. On second down, Damarcus Miller then took over. He took a pitch from Fernandez and cut through the Red Raider defense for a twenty yard touchdown.

However, the touchdown was called back due to a holding call against the T-bolts. Now faced with second and fifteen yards to get a first down, two runs and a pass attempt were unable to keep the T-bolt drive going, and they turned the ball over on downs.

Once again the T-bolt defense stepped up, lead by Nasir Shelton and Jonathan Forrest tackling. On fourth down the North Rockland punt hit the ground and bounced backwards giving the T-bolts offense the ball on the North Rockland 30 yard line with under two minutes left in the game. Another T-bolt holding call pushed the ball back and Fernandez passes towards receiver Antoine Lewis were incomplete.
