TBolts Blank Suffolk Steelers 14-0 In Thanksgiving Bowlgame

11/28/09

Some talked and others sat silent as the ThunderBolts floated into Woodlawn field.

A wave of purple and white crowded the sideline as NRYTL parents cheered, photographed, and screamed for the Thunderbolts in a star studded event as New Rochelle's own and Baltimore Raven Ray Rice was in attendance as well as Baltimore Raven Michael Oher who currently is portrayed in the blockbuster feature starring Sandra Bullock The Blind Side.

But with all the extracurricular activity going on it was business as usual for the New Rochelle ThunderBolts. The opening kickoff by T-bolt Antionne Lewis flew with the wind and took a good and pinned the Suffolk Steelers on their six yard line, setting the tone for the rest of the game.

The Steelers came out with a run to the right but was pushed back into the endzone for a safety by Kobe Gathers, Byrce Davis and Marquez "Baby Truck" Jackson-Allen to give the T-bolts a 2-0 lead.

The Steelers kicked off and  and Marquez Jackson-Allen Jackson returned the kick to the forty yard line. Danny "Pistol" Pistolesi then took the T-bolt offense on the field eager to put points on the board. The first play was a handoff to running back Gregory "Pow Wow" Powell who stormed out the backfield for a gain of six yards. The next play Pistolesi called his own number with a quarterback bootleg to the left side and he sprinted up field following his cavalry of blockers lead by Powell and Jackson-Allen into the end zone for teh touchdown, extending the ThunderBolts the lead to 8-0.

The T-Bolts kicked off and the Steelers runner fielded the ball with decent field position and was taken down by Pistolesi, Dean "Party" Tommarello, Kasiem "Manns" Mann and Allen. Again New Ro's defense hit the field and remained dominant as Xavier "Moochie" Goodman, Rashan "Bush" Gilmore, and Haithem "Hy-thon" Coughlin played big on first and second down. The two teams exchanged possessions through the second quarter and into the halftime

At the start of the second half the T-Bolts received the kick and Pistolesi returned it for a substantial gain. The second half the Steelers got a heavy dose of Gregory "Pow Wow" Powell, Marqez Jackson-Allen, and Rashon "Bush" Gilmore as the T-Bolts tried to capitalize on their lead. With Allen helped run the ball down to the thirty-five yard line where on second down Pistolesi dropped back with protection from Danny Williams, Kobe Gathers, Mike Davis, went to the air hitting Antionne Lewis perfectly in the end zone for another score giving the ThunderBolts the lead 14-0 and complete the scoring for the game.

The Steelers got the ensuing kickoff and tried to accomplish some positive gains as their quarterback dropped back looking for his receiver but instead found #3 Danny "Pistol" Pistolesi for an interception and a return for about fifteen yards. The T-Bolts hit the field on offense again this time lead by back-up Dwayne "Pat White" White-Edney whose first snapped fumbled giving the Steelers the ball back, but "Pat White" redeemed himself on defense the very next play as a defensive back intercepting the Steelers quarterback making up for his mistake getting his team back the ball.

With a turnover on downs the T-Bolts gave the ball back to the Steelers but immediataley got it back as Danny "Pistol" Pistolesi caught another interception sealing the game and turning the ball over to Dwayne "Pat White" White-Edney and the offense who racked up yards, killed clock, and ended the game giving the New Rochelle ThunderBolts the win. After the game coach Biggie and his staff thanked their team and the parents for a great year and for taking care of business. The 2009 Thunderbolts finished the season 9-2-2 with the best defense allowing the fewest points per game.
