Ravens Run Away from Orangetown

11/01/09

The Ravens traveled to Orangetown on 11/1 looking to extend their winning streak against the Patriots.

On the opening drive, running backs Jamal Dallas and Hezikiah Brown were aided by the blocking of Steffen Fernand, Jaishon Spady, Shawn Gilchrist, Hassan Mabrouk and Curtis Fry-Harlan as they quickly moved the ball inside of the Patriot twenty yard line. Romeo Holden ended the opening drive by following a Corey Thomas block around left end for the Raven touchdown. The Raven defense then stepped up on Orangetowns next possession when Xavier Thomas recovered a Patriot fumble at the Patriot 35 yard line.

Kobe Simpson and Shawn Gilchrist runs moved the ball inside of the Patriot ten, but the Ravens were unable to score and turned the ball over on downs. After advancing the ball to the twenty yard line, the Patriots pass attempt was intercepted by safety Romeo Holden, who returned the ball to the 6 yard line. After taking possession, a penalty and a Orangetown defensive sack pushed the Ravens offense back to their twenty-five yard line.

The Raven offense made up for it with Holden contributing a weaving 25 yard touchdown run on third and goal. Holden then added the extra point run to increase the Raven lead to 13-0.

Late in the second quarter, after another Raven defensive stop, Hezikiah Brown added to the Raven lead with a 26 yard touchdown run to increase the Ravens lead to 19-0.
The Patriots would respond on their next possession as their runner broke free before being tackled inside of the Raven twenty yard line. After moving the ball inside of the ten the Raven defense, lead by JohnRyan Freeman, held the Patriots as time ran out before halftime.

The third quarter began with the Patriot offense again moving into Raven territory. This series would result in a touchdown for the Patriots, and close the score at 19-6. Raven Jaishon Spady ended any attempts for a Patriot comeback on the next Raven offensive possession with a 60 yard sprint into the end-zone for the final Raven score.

The two teams played evenly into the fourth quarter before the game was called due to an on-field illness by an Orangetown coach. We are glad to announce that the coach has recovered and he is doing well.

Other Ravens who played well included Lance Anthony, Raymond Dixon, Caesar Torres, Storm Jones-Alleyne, Joshua Gamby, Raymond Dixon, Xavier Thomas, Jovell Major, Mykai Joyner, Lonnie Jones, Joseph Romeo, Ethan Ortiz, Chance Kelly, Lonnie Jones, and Lamar Hill.
