Ravens Over Eastchester 2

On Sunday 10/25/09 the Vikings hosted Eastchester 2 for their final home game of the season.  Another strong defensive effort lead to the Raven two touchdown victory.

The Raven defense started fast and caused a fumble on Eastchester’s first play from scrimmage; recovered by the Ravens. On the next play Raven quarterback Romeo Holden ran 40 yards into the end-zone for the touchdown. Hassan Mabrouk then added the extra point kick to give the Ravens a quick 8-0 lead. The two teams exchanged possessions for the remainder of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Raven defense of Corey Thomas, Romeo Holden and Hezikiah Brown caused another Eastchester fumble. With less than two minutes left in two yard line. Holden ran in for the touchdown on the next play but the touchdown was not allowed due to a penalty on the Ravens. After the penalty, Eastchester sacked Holden at the 15 yard line to end the drive and send the teams to halftime.

In the second half the blocking of Ethan Ortiz, Joseph Romeo, Kieran Moran, Shawn Harris, Caesar Torres and JohnRyan Freeman began to wear down the Eastchester defense. Romeo Holden took advantage and ran the ball 60 yards to the Eastchester 10 yard line. Again, the play was called back due to a Raven penalty.

Jamal Dallas then attempted to put the Ravens back on track with a 35 yard run to put the Ravens inside of Eastchester territory. Romeo Holden then followed Hassan Mabrouk block around left end for a 25 yard run to the Eastchester three yard line. Hezikiah Brown ended the drive with a run around left end for the touchdown. The Hassan Mabrouk kick would make thegame 16-0 late in the fourth quarter.

Eastchester attempted to comeback when they completed a 30 yard pass to get into Raven territory on the 30 yard line. Two runs would then put the Eastchester offense on the Raven 18. But once again the Raven defense stopped the Eastchester offensive drive. The Ravens took possession of the ball at the 17 yard line with less than two minutes to go in the game.  Runs by Jaishon Spady and Romeo Holden helped the Ravens run out the clock.

Other Ravens who played well included Lance Anthony, Raymond Dixon, Storm Jones-Alleyne, Kobe Simpson, Joshua Gamby, Shawn Gilchrist, Raymond Dixon, Xavier Thomas, Jovell Major, Mykai Joyner, Lonnie Jones, Lamar hill, Steffen Fernand, and Curtis Fry-Harlan.
