Ravens comeback Kids Again: Win 18-12

The Ravens returned to action on a one game winning ‘streak’ looking to extend it. On Sunday they faced another New City mitey-mite team.

The game was evenly matched throughout the first quarter as both teams fought for field position. The Raven defense was up to the task of holding the New City offense. Hassan Magbrouk, Johnryan Freeman, Jaishon Spady, Hezikiah Brown, Trevon Ennis, and Shawn Gilchrist helped hold New City on a goal line stand at the three-yard line.

The Raven offense was unable to move the ball out of the shadow of their own end-zone and ‘punted’ (mitey-mite level does not punt, they walk off 25 yards) the ball over to New City..  With good field position, the New city offense would score on a 31-yard run that put them ahead 6-0.

The Ravens would come back on offense and move the ball downfield thanks to Romeo Holden and Christian Ancrum. The Ravens offense would eventually score on the drive on a run to tie the score at 6-6. Raven Peyton Bean would play good defense and help get the ball back to the Raven offense. From there Raven Myles Taylor would add a 42 yard touchdown run that put the Ravens ahead of the Rams 12-6.

As the game moved into the fourth quarter, it became more dramatic as New City would drive back downfield and score. The extra point run was made and they lead 13-12 against the Ravens. The Ravens would bounce back again with under 4 minutes left in the game. Christian Ancrum and Romeo Holden would take turns running the ball. Holden then followed his lead block around left end for a 40 yard touchdown sprint with under 2 minutes left in the game. The extra point was no good and the Ravens lead 18-12.

New City would add to the dramatic ending by moving the ball in the final minutes against the Raven defense, but time ran out with the Raven defense holding them at the 30 yard line.
