RAVENS Close In Loss
10/05/08

The Ravens played the last game on Sunday,10/5/08 against Eastchester. The newly formed Ravens are continually improving and showed as much against a tough opponent.

Eastchester received the ball first and was able to move downfield against the Raven defense. A Blue Devil runner ran a sweep to the outside and scored a touchdown from 30 yards away. However, a holding penalty against Eastchester called the touchdown back. Ravens Hassan Mabrouk, Peyton Bean, Trevon Ennis and Ny-quel Fields regrouped and the Raven defense eventually held, stopping the Eastchester drive on their own 15 yard line.

On offense Shawn Gilcrest took over on the next Raven offensive drive by sprinting 45 yards to the Eastchester 30 yard line. Gilcrest then ran the ball to the 12 yard line. Gilcrest and the Raven offense then finished the drive with a 10 yard touchdown run, putting the Ravens in front 6-0. The two teams traded possessions throughout the second quarter and the Ravens held onto a 6-0 lead at halftime.

In the third quarter the Eastchester offense drove into Raven territory. The big play was a fourth and four conversion against the Raven defense. The Blue Devils would score on the possession and convert the extra point to give the Blue Devils a 7-6 lead against the Ravens.

In the fourth quarter Eastchester was able to contain the running and passing of quarterback Romeo Holden, Christian Ancrum and Shawn Gilcrest. The Raven defense was unable to stop the Eastchester offense as a Blue Devil runs to the Ravens 15 yard line produced a touchdown one play later. The Blue Devils held a 13-6 lead, that stood for the remainder of the game with neither team getting into scoring position.
