Ravens Fly versus North Rockland

9/20/09

After being away last week the Ravens returned to Fosina field looking to extend their unbeaten streak. The visiting opponent this week was the North Rockland Red Raiders.

North Rockland opened the game with a drive against the Raven defense that lasted the entire 1st quarter of play. The Raven defense then buckled down and caused a North Rockland fumble that was recovered by JohnRyan Freeman. The teams changed field position for the quarter and on the very next play Raven Romeo Holden followed his blocks off tackle and sprinted 95 yards on the sideline for the opening touchdown.

The Raven defense then took control as Xavier Thomas, Steffen Fernand, and Keiran Moran clamped down on the North Rockland offense. In the second quarter the blocking of Shawn Harris, Lamar Hill, Joseph Romeo, Ethan Ortiz and Lance Anthony helped spring runners Jamal Dallas and Hezikiah Brown. The Ravens were positioned at the four yard line but were unable to score just before Halftime.

In the third quarter runners Storm Jones-Alleyne, Raymond Dixon and Kobe Simpson helped lead the running attack. Hassan Mabrouk then finished off a Raven drive with a 25 yard burst into the end-zone for the Ravens second touchdown of the game. The two teams exchanged field position for the remainder of the game until Jamal Dallas sealed the Raven victory with a 30 yard burst off of right tackle for the final touchdown of the game. Romeo Holden then ran in the extra point try.

Other Ravens who played well included Curtis Fry-Harlan, Caesar Torres, Corey Thomas, Jaishon Spady, Jovell Major, Chance Kelly, Mykai Joyner, Shawn Gilcrest and Joshua Gamby.
