RAVENS Stumble in Home Opener
9/14/08

Unlike the other teams, the newly formed Ravens opened their home season against the Eastchester Bluedevils, one of the top teams in the mitey-mite division.

The Ravens were in a tough game from the start as Eastchester moved the ball against the Raven defense and scored from forty yards away in the opening series. The Ravens received the ball but despite good runs by Ray Miller and Romeo Holden, could not sustain the drive.

Eastchester took control on the next series by completing a short pass that the runner turned into a 70 yard touchdown. The next time the ravens had the football Jamal Dallas helped the raven offense move the ball down field with power running thanks to the blocks by Amir Gideon, Xavier Thomas, Corey Thomas, Dalton Olsen, and Mykai Joyner. A fumble by the Raven offense ended their best scoring opportunity.

The Bluedevils extended their lead against the Ravens in the fourth quarter with a 55 yard sweep around left end. The Ravens are now 1-1 and will travel to Monroe-Woodburt this coming weekend.

Other Ravens who played well were Hassan Mabrouk, Peyton Bean, Rashan Sullins, Myles Taylor, Jaishon Spady, Marquis Burwell, Christian Ancrum, and Keishawn Johnson.
