RAVENS Tie North Rockland In Thriller
9/7/08

The newly formed Ravens began their history on Sunday against Noth Rockland with a high scoring tie game. The game began with fireworks from the start as a North Rockland running back raced around end for a 50 yard scamper before being caught by 28. Tough defense by Ray Miller, Hassan Mabrouk and Corey Thomas helped the Ravens, but they were unable to hold North Rockland out of the end-zone on the Red Raiders first touchdown. The Ravens responded with Ray Miller running around right end for a 60 yard score. However, due to a penalty the touchdown was called back. Myles Taylor then took matters in his own hands with a smart 45 yard weaving run for the Ravens tying touchdown.

In the second quarter North Rockland opened up its offense and moved the ball against the Ravens with quick passing that eventually lead to a 15 yard swing pass for the go ahead touchdown against the Ravens. Once again the Ravens responded when Myles Taylor went around right end for a 50 yard touchdown, and the Ravens took a 13-13 tie into halftime.

In the third quarter the Ravens looked to put the game away when quarterback Romeo Holden split the defense on a 40 yard jaunt around left end. Once again North Rockland responded when their running back took the very next offensive handoff 60 yards to the end-zone. However, a penalty brought the ball back and the run did not count.

With the Ravens leading 19-13 Hassan Mabrouk seemed to save the day when he caught a Red Raider running back on a long run to the end-zone at the 15 yard line. On the next play Raven Dalton Olsen recovered a fumble by North Rockland and seemed to seal a Raven victory.

But with the ball on their own twenty yard line a Raven offensive fumble was recovered by North Rockland and it lead the Red Raider's throwing a 10 yard swing pass for the touchdown that tied the game.

Other Ravens who played well in this game were Ray Miller, who had two sixty yard touchdown runs called back during the game. Also playing well were Anthony Albright, Christian Ancrum, Trevon Enis, Amir Giddeon, Marquis Burwell, Ny-quel Fields, Josh Gamby, Christopher Hurst, and Mykai Joyner.
