Lions Defeat White Plains 19-0 11/18/07
On Sunday, traditional rival White Plains visited Fosina Field to play on the Jr. Pee Wee level and the Lions won the game 19-0.
After the kickoff, the Lions offense drove downfield behind the running of DaMarcus Miller(27) and Bryson Hayes(21), who converted a key fourth down behind a Charlie Verni(58) block. Miller(27) then followed the blocks of Ryan Gil(58) and Nigel Jones(99) off tackle before outrunning the White Plains secondary for a 28 yard touchdown. Bryson Hayes(21) added the extra point. The Lion defense then took control of the game as Tyler Fernandez(2), Jonathan Yudell(57), Jordan Luzzi(85), Jordan Davis(80) and Devonte Banner(24) held White Plains. In the second quarter, runs by Danny Pistolesi(12), Dean Tomarello(16) and Rashan Gilmore(42) led to a one yard touchdown by Pistolesi(12). Danny Pistolesi(12) then ended the next White Plains drive with his first interception of the season. The Lion offense were not able to get a first down and the White Plains offense began to move the football against the Lions just before halftime. Dean Tomarello(16) made a touchdown saving tackle on a White Plains 50 yard run and a Vaughn Howard(9) sack on the Lion twenty yard line then ended the scoring threat.
In the third quarter the Lions were able to hold White Plains on downs and force a punt from the White Plains 15 yard line. The ball sailed over the punters head and he was tackled by the Lion defense. Rashan Gilmore(42) then followed a Jonathan Yudell(57) block into the end-zone and a 19-0 score.
Other Lions who played well in this game were Jevon Taylor(60), Antoine Lewis(14), Akel Walker(52), Tyrell Bennett(95), Justin Turner(35), Mike Davis(63) and Bryce Davis(43).
The Lions (T-Bolts and Chiefs) are headed to Baltimore for the final game of the 2007 season for Thanksgiving weekend looking to finish strong.
