Lions Win vs North Rockland II 10/28/07
On Sunday, the Lions hosted a North Rockland Jr. Pee Wee team for the second consecutive weekend. However, unlike the tough win and the tie versus the "other" North Red Rockland team, this North Rockland II team is still building.
The Lions came out with an eye on offense as quarterback Tyler Ferrnandez(2) dropped back to pass on three consecutive plays. On fourth down Devonte Banner(24) took a handoff from DaMarcus Miller and weaved through the Red Raider defense for a 52 yard touchdown. Fernandez, added the extrapoint on a sneak. After the touchdown, A Jonathan Yudell(57) kickoff pinned North Rockland deep and the defense was able to capitalize as Jordan Davis sacked the Red Raider quarterback in the end-zone. Once the Lions received the kickoff, the offensive line of Jordan Luzzi(85), Nigel Jones(99), Tyrell Bennett(95), and Mike Davis(63), opened a gaping hole that helped running back Dean Tomarello(16) run off tackle for a 33 yard touchdown before halftime.
The Lions came back out after halftime looking to put the game away. Bryson Hayes(21) powered the running game while Bryce Davis(43) led the defense. Hayes eventually bullied his way into the end-zone from 5 yards away for a touchdown, with Miller(27) adding the extra point. After a Lion defensive stop Miller then put the game away with a spectacular 45 yard touchdown run up the middle. Non starting players were then allowed to stay in, and eventually Lion verteran Jevon Taylor(6) was given the football in a game and he scored from 5 yards away.
For the 2007 season, game articles, photos and possible video will be posted mid-week following Sunday's games. Additional photos will be posted after the 50th weekend celebration. Stay tuned.
