Lions See Red In 13-0 Victory
10/21/07

On Sunday the Lions faced North Rockland for third place in the final 2007 Jr. Pee Wee standings. These teams faced each other in the regular season in a game that ended in a 6-6 tie.

The Lions offense drove the ball in the first half as recently new quarterback Antoine Lewis(14) directed a full field drive that displayed the improved team blocking of Jevon Taylor(60), Tyrell Bennett(95), Jordan Luzzi(85), DeAndre Pierre Louis(78), Nigel "Tank" Jones(99), and Mike Davis(63). Lion backs Danny Pistolesi(12), Rashan Gilmore(42) and Damarcus Miller(27) helped move the ball to the one yard line. However a fumble on the one yard line ended the Lion drive. The rest of the half saw both teams exchange punts and missed fourth down conversions. The Lion defense, led by Bryce Davis(43), Jonathan Yudell(57) and Jeremiah Minyard(66), played tough and kept North Rockland below the 50 yard line. The first half ended 0-0.

In the second half the Lion defense forced a punt and Tyler Fernandez(2) returned the punt giving the offense good field position. Power runs by Dean Tomarello(16), Bryson Hayes(21) and Devonte Banner(24) moved the ball. Hayes(21) ended the drive with a five yard blast off-tackle for the opening score. In the fourth quarter Banner(24) took over with sweeping runs that eventually led to his 25 yard touchdown behind the blocking of left end Jordan Davis(80).

The Lions will face North Rockland II this week. Although the colors are the same these two teams have not met this year.

Photo is not from this game. Photo is from the Lion vs North Rockland game that ended in a 6-6 tie earlier this year (9/30/07).

For the 2007 season, game articles, photos and possible video will be posted mid-week following Sunday's games. Additional photos will be posted after the 50th weekend celebration. Stay tuned.
