Lions LOse to Suffern 6-0
10/4/09

The Lions returned to Fosina field on Sunday 10/4/09 looking to have back to back victories for the first time this season. After a hard fought battle the Lions fell to Suffern 6-0 in the final minutes of the game.

In the first quarter the tow teams battled for field position. A Lion threat was spearheaded by Myles Taylor, Zachary Lyttle and Jalen Young. The drive stalled with the first of three Lion turnovers on the day.

Late in the second quarter, a Lion punt attempt bounced back into Lion territory. With good field position, a Suffern pass and catch positioned their offense inside of the Lion twenty yard line. With less than a minute until halftime, Suffern moved the ball inside of the Lion five yard line. The Lion defense was able to hold the Suffern offense form the end-zone as the clock expired. The teams went into halftime tied 0-0.

Defensively the Lions were lead by Makhel Wilson, Ryan Love, Christian Ancrum, Paul Wright, Nashiem Hiland, Marlon Gardner, and Luke Clifford.

Neither team threatened in the third quarter due to fumbles and good defensive play. Late in the fourth quarter Suffern took possession of the ball on the Suffern 40 yard line and drove downfield. With less than a minute left in the game and inside of the five yard line, the Suffern ball-carrier scored the game winning touchdown for the final score of 6-0.

Other Lions who played well included Joshua Watts, Marlon Riley, Andrew Cappizzano, William Weber, Elliott Aponte, Rashan Sullins, and Tiason Moreno.
