Chiefs Power Past Ramapo 13-0
11/08/09
The Chiefs traveled to face Ramapo this past weekend in a rematch of the Chief 13-0 win earlier this season. The teams played a tough game and the Chiefs came away once again with a 13-0 victory.
CJ Anthony blasted off of a Tyrell Bennett block for a 25 yard run to the Ramapo 35 yard line. The drive would stall but give the Chiefs good field position for the remainder of the half. The running of Jonathan Forrest and Bryce Davis put the Chiefs on the Ramapo 10 yard line. After two runs, Forrest would dive off tackle for the touchdown. Quarterback Keimon Barrow passed to Rakim Parker for the extra point conversion and 7-0 Chiefs lead.
The teams exchanged possessions for the remainder of the second quarter although the Chiefs were in control of the game. The Ramapo offense took advantage of good field position near the end of the second quarter. A few runs and a Chiefs penalty eventually positioned the Yellow Jackets on the Chiefs 10 yard line. The Chiefs defense, lead by Rakim Parker, Jahari Ferrell, Jonathan Yudell and Bryson Hayes stopped the offense. Jordan Lawrence then recovered a fumble after a Chief sack to end the scoring threat.
In the second half the Chief defense stepped up once again and recovered a Ramapo fumble at their own 45 yard line. After two Jonathan Forrest runs, quarterback Nasir Shelton threw a 45 yard touchdown pass to a streaking Rakim Parker for a touchdown. The PAT was unsuccessful and the Chiefs lead 13-0.
The remainder of the game saw scoring opportunities for both teams stopped by fumbles and change of possession. In the fourth quarter a CJ Anthony 30 yard run put the ball inside of the Ramapo 25 yard line but a fumble on the next play ended the drive and the Chiefs held on for the 13-0 win.
