Eastchester Pulls Away From Chiefs 19-6
10/25/09
The Chiefs returned to Fosina field to face traditional rival Eastchester on 10/25/09. After a fast start, the Chiefs were defeated 19-6.
Eastchester received the opening kickoff and proceeded to move the ball downfield. Good defense by Demetrius Rodriguez, Jonathan Yudell, and Rakim Parker highlighted the drive defensively, but Eastchester eventually scored on a short run to take a 6-0 lead.
The Chiefs quickly struck back on offense when Jonathan Forrest took a pitch from quarterback Nasir Shelton, followed the blocks of Bryson Hayes and CJ Anthony, cut back inside and then turned on the speed for a 68 yard touchdown to tie the score at 6-6.
The Chief defense quickly got the ball back thanks to Forrest, and Hayes and Jevon Taylor. Now on offense, Chief CJ Anthony followed the blocks of Tyrell Bennett, William Bloom, Zachary Sweetland, and Demarie Ralliford for a 45 yard gain inside of the 15 yard line of Eastchester territory. The Chiefs moved the ball inside of the ten, but were unable to put points on the board from the drive.
Eastchester offense advanced the ball to the 40 yard line before being forced to punt. On the punt return, returner Bryson Hayes mishandled the football and it bounced back into Chief territory. Chief CJ Anthony recovered the ball and attempted to run with it but Eastchester tackle caused a fumble at the Chief 25 yard line.
The Chiefs defense attempted to hold the Blue Devils when sacks by Jahari Ferrell and Demetrius Rodriguez pushed them back. But on third down, a screen play resulted in an Eastchester touchdown, and a 12-6 Chief halftime deficit.
The teams battled one another for field position in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter a fumble exchange between Nasir Shelton and running back Rakim Parker gave Eastchester the ball at the Chief 40 yard line. The Blue Devils drove the ball to the ten yard line, and although they did not score on the drive, forced the Chiefs to play out of the own end-zone for the rest of the game. The Chief defense would hold the Blue Devil attack on two more possessions, but would give up a late touchdown and extra-point kick for the final 19-6 score.
Chiefs who played well were Keimon Barrow, Ishmael Ben-Reuben, Michael White, Brandon Trotta, Jordan Luzzi, Jordan Lawrence, Kyler Callands, Devin Delapaz, Jahair Thompson, Max Moore, and Lovell Major.
