ChiefS Fall to New jersey 25-0 10/18/09
Two weeks after battling an undefeated New Jersey team in a tough 14-0 loss, the Chiefs returned to Fosina field to battle them again.
New Jersey started fast with multiple runs against the Chief defense that lead to a score on their opening drive. The extra point kick failed and the Chiefs were behind 6-0.
The Chief offense was unable to move the ball through the quarter but luckily the Chief defense came to play. After the opening score the defense lead by Jonathan Forrest, Jordan Lawrence, Charlie Anthony, Jonathan Yudell, Demetrius Rodriguez and Rakim Parker clamped down on the New Jersey offense.
New Jersey would hold the Chiefs offense once again force a punt. The punt attempt was unsuccessful as the Chiefs punter was tackled at their own twelve yard line. A penalty, and a Rakim Parker fumble recovery stalled the New Jersey offense and the teams went into halftime with New Jersey leading 6-0.
Late in the third quarter another Chiefs failed punt attempt resulted in New Jersey recovering the ball inside of the Chiefs 25 yard line. As the fourth quarter began, New Jersey would go in and score on the drive to take a 12-0 lead.
New Jersey then recovered the onside kick on the ensuing kickoff. After two short runs the Giant running back broke free of the Chiefs defense for a long touchdown run and a commanding 18-0 lead. A hard fought defensive game that was 6-0 in the beginning of the fourth quarter was now a game of catch up for the Chiefs team.
Jonathan Forrest, CJ Anthony and Rakim Parker runs helped the Chiefs move the ball on their next possession but they could not convert a critical fourth down. New Jersey took possession of the football with less than a minute left in the contest. A completed pass and run resulted in a 45 yard score for the Giants and end the scoring at 25-0.
