Chiefs Rebound with Impressive Win 35-13 10/7/07
The Chiefs traveled to New City to play the second seeded Rams. This Ram team came into this game after defeating the strong Bergen County team (game played in the middle of the week) that defeated the Chiefs a week earlier.
The Chiefs hosted New City the first game of the season and came away with a 13-6 hard fought victory. Since then New City had been unbeaten, and after defeating Bergen, entered this game confident. The first half saw the two teams battling back and forth on offense and defense. The Chiefs offense scored after two long passes to the five yard line from Khalil Edney(7) and Jordan Frenza(1). Two Jordan Frenza(1) scores helped the Chiefs to a 20-13 halftime lead.
In the second half the Chiefs scored twice and held New City without any points. After the kickoff by Rosado, the Chief defense, led by Cohl Saunders(34,) and Enrique Valencia(31), held the Rams on three downs. New City decided to go for a 4th and 2 on their own twenty yard line. The Chiefs defense stepped up and stopped them. Five running plays later Exander Rosado(2) scored on a two yard run, increasing the lead to 27-13 .The third quarter found the Rams attempting to move the football by passing but were stopped by the play of safety Khalil "Pop" Edney(7) and defensive back Rashaan Davis(9). Rosado completed the scoring in the fourth quarter with a 50 yard gallop down the left sideline, his fourth touchdown of the day. Since this seemed to be his day, Rosado then kicked the extra point for the final score 35-13.
Players who also played well were Ray Ganley(19), Brandeis Minyard(91), Akil Brown(66), Ryan Landrine(21), Eric Bell(12), John Luke Bogue(40) and Malik Taylor(15).
Additional photos will be posted after 50th weekend celebration.
For the 2007 season, game articles, photos and possible video will be posted mid-week following Sunday's games. Stay tuned.
