ChiefS Fall 14-0 to New Jersey 10/4/09
The Jr. midget Chiefs traveled on Sunday 10/4/09 to face an undefeated and un-scored on New Jersey Giant team. The Chiefs played the Giants tough, but came up short in the final score.
The two teams felt one another out in the first quarter, exchanging possession and battling for field position. New Jersey would get the first break when a runner broke free for a thirty yard gain inside of Chief territory. The Chief defense, lead by Rakim Parker, Jonathan Forrest, and CJ Anthony kept the Giants offensive attack in check, but the defense could not hold them on a fourth and twelve pass that New Jersey converted. New Jersey would punch the ball in from the three for a 6-0 lead.
The Chiefs would battle back on the next offensive possession. Jonathan Forrest scampered thirty yards and then added ten more yards to put the Chiefs deep into New Jersey territory. Forrest then would play quarterback as he passed to CJ Anthony for a 25 yard gain inside of the New Jersey twenty yard line. However, with no timeouts left, the Chiefs drive would stall there due to halftime.
New Jersey’s final touchdown came late in the fourth quarter. The Chiefs, inside of their 15 after a change of possession were looking to move downfield and tie or win the game. However, a fumble inside of their ten yard line gave New Jersey possession. The Giants took possession, eventually scored from 5 yards away and kicked the extra point for the final 14-0 score.
Other Chiefs who played well included Jordan Lawrence (who lead the defense), Bryson Hayes, Jordan Luzzi, Tyrell Bennett, Jonathan Yudell, Lovell Major, Ameir Lewis, Jahari Ferrell, William Bloom, Brandon Trotta, Michael White, Max Moore, Kyler Callands, and Ishmael Ben-Reuben.
