ChiefS Grind Out 13-0 Win 9/27/09
The Jr. Midget Chiefs traveled to Spring Valley/Ramapo as the third game of a rainy Sunday. SV/Ramapo opened the game on offense and began to drive downfield against the Chiefs. But the Chief defense forced a fumble that was recovered by Rakim Parker on the Ramapo 40 yard line.
Two Bryson Hayes power runs behind Jordan Luzzi and Tyrell Bennett blocks put the ball inside of the twenty yard line. Quarterback Nasir Shelton then completed a pass to Rakim Parker that Parker ran to the five yard line. Jonathan Forrest finished off the Chief offensive drive with a blast around left end for the touchdown and a Chief 6-0 lead. The two teams played out the first quarter with the Chief defense clamping down. Jonathan Yudell, CJ Anthony, and Jahari Ferrell helped hold the SV/Ramapo offensive attack.
Late in the second quarter, Bryson Hayes took over again with quick runs to the outside. Jonathan Forrest then took a pitch around right end for 45 yard gain before being pushed out of bounds at the two yard line. Forrest then finished the drive with his second touchdown of the day. Quarterback Nasir Shelton connected with Rakim Parker for the extra point pass and the Chiefs took a 13-0 lead into halftime.
In the second half Chief CJ Anthony returned the SV/Ramapo opening kickoff inside of the Ramapo 40 yard line. But after a penalty against the Chiefs, the drive stalled.
In the fourth quarter SV/Ramapo was helped with an offensive drive after a roughing the punter penalty was called against the Chiefs. However, SV/Ramapo’s potential scoring drive was stopped by CJ Anthony and Rakim Parker sacks. Keimon Barrow ended the SV/Ramapo threat with a fourth down pass deflection. The Chiefs then ran the clock out with their running game to preserve the 13-0 win.
Other Chiefs who played well included Jordan Lawrence, Zachary Sweetland, Demarie Ralliford, Max Mooore, Kyler Callands, Lovell Major, Michael White, Demetrius Rodirguez, Ameir Lewis, Devin Delapaz, and Ishmael Ben-Reuben.
