Chiefs Grind Out Win 21-12 9/23/07 In 2007, the Chiefs are becoming accustomed to close, hard fought victories that challenge their resolve. On Sunday they traveled to North Rockland to face a tough Red Raiders team to test themselves once again. The halftime score of this game was 14-6. The Chiefs scoring in the first half was led by Exander Rosado(2) and Khalil Edney(7) who each had touchdown runs, while the extra point runs were added by Jordan Frenza(1). In the first half, the Red Raiders had also put a touchdown on the board.
In the third quarter, North Rockland drove the ball down against the Chiefs defense to the 8 yard line. At this point the Chiefs were ahead 14-6 and momentum had shifted to the Red Raiders. After a first down run of one yard, the Red Raiders decided to isolate their best receiver and attempt to throw a jump ball pass to him against Chiefs safety Jordan Frenza(1). Frenza was up to the challenge, batting each jump ball away and ending the scoring threat. Unfortunately when the Chiefs offense ran the next play Rosado(2) was stripped of the ball after an eight yard run and the Red Raiders recovered the fumble. The Red Raiders then scored on a draw play and closed the score to 14-12. The Chiefs responded with a patient 70 yard drive that featured the running of Cohl Saunders(34), who ran tough all day, Rosado(2) and Frenza(1). Frenza(1) ended the drive with a 15 yard blast off of right tackle for the score. Ray “Macho”Ganley(19) then added the extra point with a one handed ‘bobble’ catch from Edney(7).
The Red Raiders attempted comebacks were stopped by the defense of Khalil Edney(7) and Malik Taylor, who each had interceptions in the second half. While Shayne Davidson(22), Marcello Neto(57), Paul Verni(75), Eric Bell(12), Ryan Landrine(21), and Akil Brown(66) also played well for the Chiefs.
