ChiefS Fall in New jersey 13-0 9/21/08
The Jr. Midget Chiefs traveled alone to face the New Jersey Giants on 9/21/08.
the Giants recieved the ball first and quickly moved down the field against the Chief defense. The Giants drive was helped by a 40 yard run to the Chief five yard line that ended with a 5 yard touchdown run.
After the Chiefs recived the kickoff they responded with a drive of their own. Donovan Powell put the Chiefs in scoring position by running 30 yards to the Giant five yard line thanks to blocking by Anthony Battle, Sam Schwarz and Cory Holder. But, the momentum was lost when Chief halfback Malik Smith was tackled hard by Giant defenders and fumbled the ball on the New Jersey five yard line.
From there the two teams exchanged field position throughout the first half but neither team could score and the Giants lead at halftime.
On defense Joe Clarke stripped a New Jersey runner and returned the ball inside of the ten yard line of the Giants. But three shots into the end-zone were unsuccessful and the Chief quarterback Clarke was sacked on fourth down.
The Chiefs battled to tie the game but New Jersey added a second score late in the fourth to end any hopes of a Chief comeback. Seeking their first victory of the season, the improving Chiefs will face Eastchester this Sunday at Fosina field.
Other Chiefs who played well included Beinson Bracey, Gavin Harley, Jahair Thompson, Max Moore, Jordan Lawrence, Wjhante Holden, Aaron Freeze and Juvon Canty.
