ChiefS Lose Close Game 12-0
9/20/09

The Chiefs returned to Fosina field on Sunday to host the North Rockland Red Raiders program. If you like tough, hard nosed football, then this was the game to see.

The Chiefs initiated the action in the first quarter with the running of Jonathan Forrest and CJ Anthony. Anthony would put the Chiefs in scoring position with a forty five yard run inside of the Red Raider fifteen yard line. Blocks by Tyrell Bennett, William Bloom , Ishmael Ben-Reuben, Jonathan Yudell, Max Moore, Devin Delapaz and Rakim Parker paved the way for Forrest and Anthony. However, the Chief drive would stall and the Red Raiders took over on downs.

The teams exchanged field position throughout the remainder of the half. The Chiefs next scoring opportunity came after they recovered a Red Raider fumble on their own thirty yard line. Quick runs by Bryson Hayes and a Nasir Shelton to Forrest pass completion moved the Chiefs inside of the Red Raider 15 yard line. But with timeouts exhausted and a rush by quarterback Nasir Shelton to spike the ball, time would run out and the teams went into halftime tied 0-0.

It was clear that these were evenly matched teams and the game would come down to which team capitalized on field position. In the third quarter the Chiefs punter was tackled after a bad exchange and run, giving North Rockland the ball at the ten yard line. The Chiefs defense clamped down on successive plays with the help of a Rakim Parker sack. North Rockland attempted a field goal that was ‘no good’.

The Chiefs were now deep in their own territory. After the Chief offense made a first down, a delay of game call against them made it 1st and 15 yards to go. Eventually they were forced to punt from their own twenty yard line. The punt would only produce a five yard gain after bouncing backwards. The Chiefs defense held the North Rockland attack from the end-zone the entire game but they were unable to stop them on this drive. The Red Raiders took a 6-0 lead on a 15 yard touchdown run.

With under two minutes left the Chiefs received their last attempt to drive the field but were pinned on their own 15 yard line.  A fourth down sack of quarterback Nasir Shelton gave the Red Raiders the ball on the five yard line. North Rockland would add a short touchdown run in the final seconds to end the scoring at 12-0.

Defensively Chiefs who played well included CJ Anthony, Lovell Major, Jonathan Forrest, Jahari Ferrell, and Keimon Barrow.

Others who played well included Michael White, Brandon Trotta, Zachary Sweetland, Demarie Ralliford, Jordan Luzzi, Kyler Callands, Ameir Lewis, Michael White, Jahair Thompson, and Jordan Lawrence.
