2008 ChiefS Fall To North Rockland 9/7/08

The third game of the day saw the Chiefs face a tough North Rockland team. In the opening series North Rockland and the Chiefs exchanged the ball on downs. The tough defense by the Chiefs was lead by Gavin Harley, Donovan Powell, Corey Holder, Malik Smith and Beinson Bracey. The only excitement in the first quarter was when a North Rockland running back broke away for what looked like a long touchdown before fumbling the ball without being touched to the Chiefs.

The Chiefs offense was unable to move the ball consistently even though quaterback Joe Clarke teamed up with Gavin Harley and Donovan Powell on multiple passing plays. The North Rockland defense was able to hold Chief workhorse running back Malik Smith from breaking a long run and eventually North Rockland used good field position to break through with a 40 yard touchdown run, taking a 8-0 (with extra point kick) lead into the half.

The two teams continued to fight for field position and the Red Raiders added touchdowns in the third and fouth quarter on 50 and 40 yard drives to complete the final 24-0 scoring. This gane was much closer than the final score suggests as both teams played a hard-hitting brand of football.

Other players who played well for the Chiefs included Tyreik Kerr, Wjanye Holden, Aaron Freeze, Sam Schwarz, Jahair Thompson, Jovani Jones, Chris Gamby and Anthony Battle.
