Chiefs Hold On 12-6 vs Eastchester 9/7/07

The renewed rivalry of the Jr. Midget level New Rochelle Chiefs vs. the Eastchester Bluedevils took place on Saturday night. The history of this rivalry, predicted a low scoring hard hitting contest, and the 2007 version, did not dissapoint.

The first half was a hard hitting affair as both teams played tough defense and fought for field position. The game remained scoreless until the second half kickoff when Exander Rosado(2) returned the second half kickoff 65 yards for a Chiefs touchdown. Eastchester responded later in the quarter with a sustained drive from their veer offense. Rosado was able to track down a Eastchester runner after a long run, but the Chiefs defense was unable to keep the Bluedevils from scoring. The Chiefs responded with the strong running of Jordan Frenza(1) and Rosado(2), who are quickly becoming a 1-2 punch for Coach Butts. After scoring, Eastchester then attempted an onside kick, which the Chiefs recovered. Frenza then excited the crowd with a cross-field run to the Eastchester 10 yard line and he then finished off the scoring with the final touchdown. The Chiefs defense held on to stop Eastchester's final dash to tie or win the game.

Defensive standouts who helped the Chiefs hold the Eastchester offense were Frenza(1) (interception), Khalil Edney(7), John Luke Bogue(40), Ray Ganley(19)(sack),Paul Verni(75) Cohl Saunders(34),and Rashaan Davis(9).
