Broncos Win Close Game Vs Orangetown 10/28/07
The Broncos were home this past weekend and faced a Orangetown Patriot team that they lost to on 9/9/07 in their first loss of the season. Both games were close but this time the Broncos came out on top.
The Broncos came out and drove the field with long runs by Jalen Young(15) and Gregory Powell(9). The Patriots then intercepted a Broncos pass on the 10 yard line. The Broncos defense led by Haitam Coughlin (10), and Kobe Gathers(21) held the patriots and forced a punt. Young(15) then took control and passed the ball to Marlon Cherry(14) for a touchdown. Orangetown was able to come back by driving the ball in the second quarter and a Patriot 60 yard touchdown run tied the score. Broncos Makai Johnson(34), Nathan Harrison(20) and Nasheim Hiland (42) took turns moving the ball with strong runs until Hiland(42) broke a long run to the 10 yard line. Hiland(42) then burst around end for a touchdown on the next play for a 12-6 Bronco lead. The next series saw the Bronco defense play tough but they were hurt by an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that gave Orangetown good field position. The Patriots scored on the drive and, after converting the extra point, took a 13-12 lead into the half.
In the second half both teams battled for field position while playing good defense. The Broncos defense forced a Orangetown fumble to create an offensive opportunity. Jalen young(15) and Gregory Powell(9) found more running room behind the line blocks of Amahri Ragin(50), and Harvey Miles(62). Powell then closed the deal with a 10 yard score giving the Broncos the final lead.
For the 2007 season, game articles, photos and possible video will be posted mid-week following Sunday's games. Additional photos will be posted after the 50th weekend celebration. Stay tuned.
