Broncos Show Fight In Second half 10/21/07
In 2007, win or lose, the Bronco games have become the most exciting to watch in NRYTL, and Sunday was no different. Hosting a tough Suffern team the Broncos came out prepared in the first quarter. After playing good defense, the Bronco offense went to work as quarterback Marlon Cherry(14) passed to Jalen Young(15) . Young stole the ball from the defender and ran to the end-zone. Cherry then kicked the extra point.
Suffern responded with a 63 yard offensive touchdown run to close the score to 8-6. The Bronco next offensive series ended with a fumble that left Sufern good field position. Suffern then scored to take a 13-8 lead. Despite strong running by Nathan Harrison (20) in the second quarter, the Broncos were unable to score. Suffern took advantage of Bronco turnovers and scored twice in the quarter to take a 26-8 lead into the half. In the second half, the Broncos came out determined and drove the ball downfield with the help of runs by Gregory Powell(9). However, a Bronco pass was intercepted on the Suffern 16 yard line.
Once the Bronco defense, led by Nasheim Hiland(42)stiffened, the offense was able to move the ball. Gregory Powell(9) ran off left tackle for a seven yard touchdown making the score 26-14. Cherry(14) just missed the extra point kick in an attempt to close the score even further. Haitam Coughlin(10) passes to Powell(9) and Jalen Young(15) filled the rest of the fourth quarter with excitement as the Bronco offense continued moving the ball into scoring position, but they were unable to score again.
Other Broncos who played well were Nigel Bailey(12), Habib King(99), Daniel Williams(90), Amahri Ragin(50), Makai Johnson(34), Ryan Love(22), Zachary Lyttle(18) Jordan Lewis(24), Jordan Forrest(4) and Chris Wallace(57).
For the 2007 season, game articles, photos and possible video will be posted mid-week following Sunday's games. Additional photos will be posted after the 50th weekend celebration. Stay tuned.
