Broncos Fall Despite Comeback 10/14/07
On Sunday the Broncos showed up in traditional purple and then switched to ‘throwback’ yellow jerseys in their game against Eastchester. The game could have also been called a throwback because it was very similar to last week’s game when the Broncos ‘spotted’ their opponent three touchdowns before roaring back.
Although the Broncos were down three touchdowns, their offense did move the ball into Eastchester territory with a long run by Jordan Lewis(24). Benjamin Peters(65), Chris Wallace(57), Jarrett Haines(17), Jordan Forrest(40), Makai Johnson(34), Nasheim Hiland(42) and center Amarhi Ragin(50) had excellent blocks that sprung Lewis (this scoring opportunity was called back due to penalty). After trailing at halftime the Broncos came out ready to play.
On the first drive quarterback Marlon Cherry (14)dropped back and passed 30 yards downfield to Jalen Young(15). Young caught the ball between two defenders and outran the Blue Devil secondary for a 60 yard touchdown. Cherry(14) then lined up with Young(15) holding and kicked the extra point. The Bronco defenders were unable to stop the Eastchester veer offense and scored on their next possession. Gregory Powell(9) then began running hard to help the Broncos move the ball to the Eastchester 18 yard line. A Bronco offensive fumble ended this drive. However Powell(9) forced a fumble that was picked up by Nasheim Hiland(42) and returned the ball 22 yards for a touchdown. The Bronco extra point was unsuccessful and the game was played out with the Broncos closing in.
Other Bronco who played well were Marcus Wallace(16), Miles Harvey(62), Haitam Coughlin(10), Nigel Bailey(12), Daniel Williams(90), Ryan Love(22), Kobe Gathers(21),and Luke Cliffoed(80).
For the 2007 season, game articles, photos and possible video will be posted mid-week following Sunday's games. Additional photos will be posted after the 50th weekend celebration. Stay tuned.
