T-Bolts RUN out of time , 7-0 Against
Monroe-Woodbury
In a furious effort to offset
being down 7-0, the T-Bolts Joe Clarke (16), Pop Edney(3)
and Donovan Powell(21) led an attempted comeback drive
with less than one minute left in a hard fought defensive
game. After two long passes from Clarke to Powell that
put the ball on the Crusader 35 yard line, time ran out.
Coach Hollis praised the
efforts of his entire team. Defensive standouts included
John-Luke Bogue(10), Gavin Harley (24), Enrique Valencia
(32), Ray Ortiz-Ganley(66), and Nivan Stufano(27).
T-Bolts Rebound with 13-7 Win 9/17/06
The Pee Wee Thunderbots rebounded this past weekend against another tough opponent with a 13-7 win at home. This game featured tough defense by both teams until the T-Bolts marched downfield with strong runs by the backfield of Gavin Harley (24), Khalil "Pop" Edney (3) and Donovan Powell (21). This drive ended with a 1 yard touchdown by quarterback Joe Clarke (16). The T-Bolts continued to play tough defense led by Ray Ganley-Ortiz (69) and Michael Nazario (77). Edney(3) then put the game away with a spectaculat 70 yard touchdown run.
T-Bolts Fall 16-0 Against North Rockland 9/24/06
The Pee wee T-Bolts faced another tough test against The Red
Raiders of North Rockland and were unable to defeat them. Thanks
to the running of Khalil Edney (3), Donovan Powell (21) and
Gavin harley (24) the T-bolts moved the ball all day but were
unable to score when near the red-zone. With the offense bogged
down North Rockland was able to score once in each half to
conmplete the scoring.
The T-bolts staff praised
the efforts of John Bogue (10), Enrique Valencia (32),
Rashaan Davis (1), Paul Verni (75) and Jose Encarnacion
(43).
T-Bolts And Edney Sprint To Victory 10/01/06
On Sunday 10/01/06 The Pee Wee T-Bolts faced another tough Eastchester team. The history of this rivalry proved true as it was a low scoring, defensive game. These games are usually decided by which team makes the least mistakes, combined with one or two outstanding plays. On this day the outstanding play was provided by Khalil "Pop" Edney. The T-Bolts were behind 6-0 when their defense stopped Eastchester and received the ball on their own 15 yard line. There was only 1:58 left in the fourth quarter. After two short passes to Donovan Powell (21), Coach Hollis instructed Quarterback Edney to "take it". And he did. Seemingly dropping back to pass, Edney pulled the ball down and began to run up the middle, avoiding tackles and outrunning the Eastchester defense for a 75 yard touchdown. The T-bolt extra point was successful and the comeback was complete.
This hard fought game was low scoring but exciting as both teams threatened to score many times. The T-Bolt offense was hi-lighted by the strong running of Cohl Saunders (20). The T-Bolt defenders responsible for holding Eastchester long enough for Edney to score was lead by Ray Ganley (66), Enrique Valencia (32), John Luke Bogue (10), Gavin Harley (24), Joe Clarke (16), Paul Verni (75) and Justin Cox (40).
T-Bolts Called Back 20-0 10/08/06
Coach Hollis and the Pee
Wee T-Bolts traveled to play a tough Bergen County
Bronocos team on Sunday 10/8/06, and were unable to upset
them. Bergen County receieved the kickoff and moved downfield
on its initial drive, despite good defense by T-Bolts Justin
Cox (40), Pop Edney (3) and Gavin Harley (24).
The T-Bolts
were able to counter with a drive that moved the ball to
the Bergen County 45 yard line. On fourth down the T-Bolts
were in punt formation with Edney (3) back to punt. However,
Edney pulled the ball down and passed it to a wide open
Donovan Powell (21). Powell then eluded two tacklers and
sprinted to the end-zone. Unfortunately, the T-Bolts had
a penalty on the play and the touchdown was negated..
Bergen County was able to score once again before the half
and once in the fourth quarter to complete the score of
20-0.
The T-Bolt offense
was hi-lighted by the strong running of Pop Edney(3) and
Harley(24) along with the pass recieving of Powell (21).
The T-Bolt defense was lead by Ray Ganley (66),
Enrique Valencia (32), John Luke Bogue and (10), Joe Clarke
(16).
T-Bolts Slide 30-7 10/15/06
A week after facing a Bergen County team with one loss
the T-Bolts faced an undefeated New City team that had
outscored its opponents 121-6. Another good team, another
tough loss for the T-Bolts. As usual the T-Bolts never
gave up and continuely drove the football until miscues
stopped the drives. The defense played much better than
the score indicated and the offense was hi-lighted by a
1 yard pass to Donovan Powell (21)from Pop Edney (3) that
Powell turned into a spectacular 92 yard touchdown in which
he made 5 would be tacklers miss. Edney (3) then added
the extra point with a basketball style "jump for it" pass
from quarterback Joe Clarke (16).
The T-Bolt offense
was hi-lighted by the running of Pop Edney(3,
Gavin Harley(24), and Cohl Saunders (20) and
the pass recieving of Powell (21). The T-Bolt defense was
lead by Ray Ortiz-Ganley (66), Enrique Valencia (32), and John
Luke Bogue(10).
T-Bolts Right On Time 28-0 10/22/06
On Sunday 10/22/06, the T-Bolts hard work and talent
all came together versus Suffern in a 28-0
victory. The T-Bolt offense was once again led by the duo
of "Pop
Edney(3) and Donovan Powell(21). Edney(3) scored on runs
of thirty yards and 10 yards to open the scoring. Powell
(21) showed his versatility by returning a Suffern punt
40 yards for a touchdown. The T-Bolts other score came
on a touchdown pass from quarterback Joe Clarke(16) to
receiver John-Luke Bogue(10). Suffern
was able to get in scoring position on at least three different
occasions, but the T-Bolt defense, led by Gavin Harley(24),
Cohl Saunders(20), and Ray Ganley-Ortiz(66) was able to
hold Suffern. Joe Clarke (16) ended the game and preserved
the shutout with an interception in the closing seconds.
Coach Hollis and the young
T-Bolts team return to action next week against Orangetown
looking to even their record and build on the performance
from Sunday.
T-Bolts Shutout Another 18-0 10/29/06
A week after putting up 28 and allowing zero points the Pee
Wee T-Bolts attempted to duplicate last weeks performance with
an impressive 18-0 victory against Orangetown.
After battling for field position, the T-Bolts Gavin Harley(24)
scored from 35 yards out in the first quarter. Running by Cohl
Saunders (20) and passes from "Pop" Edney(3) to Donovan Powell(21)
setup a Edney(3) 40 yard touchdown scamper
around left end, in which he weaved in and out of the grasp
of several Orangetown defenders. The second half began with
Powell(21) receiving the kickoff and running across field for
a 40 yard return that ended on the Orangetown 32 yard line.
Quarterback
Joe Clarke then hit receiver Jose Encarnacion(43) for a twenty
yard touchdown, ending the scoring.
T-Bolts Stumble Against Ramapo 11/5/06
After outscoring their previous two opponents 46-0 the Jr.
Pee Wee T-Bolts faced a
tough Ramapo team they had won 13-7 against earlier in the
season and suffered a tough 30-6 loss. The T-Bolts were
able to move the ball on offense with skillful runs by quarterback
Pop Edney(3), Donovan Powell(21) and Cohl Saunders(20). Coach
Hollis opened up the offense and quarterbacks Edney(3) and
Clarke(16) attempted passes to ends Jose Encarnacion(43), John-Luke
Bogue(10) and speedster Donovan Powell(21). However, besides
a 10 yard touchdown sweep by quarterback Joe Clarke(16) in
the first quarter, the T-Bolts were unable to sustain their
long drives. The
normally tough T-Bolt defense was unable to contain the Ramapo
offense from breaking long runs despite strong efforts by Ray
Ganley_Ortiz,(66), Edney(3), Powell(21), Gavin Harley(24),
Justin Cox(40) and Rashaan Davis(1).
T-Bolts Finish Strong 19-7 11/12/06
In a show of offense, the Pee Wee T-Bolts showed that it doesn't
matter who is calling the plays or what plays they are, they
have the talent to perform when they play at their best. While
playing a Monroe-Woodbury team who defeated them 7-0
in the first game of the season, the T-Bolts showed they are
a different team now.
The offense featured a picture
perfect 53 yard bomb from quarterback Joe Clarke(16) to
speedster Donovan Powell(21), in which Powell caught it
in stride and ran for the first score of the game. The
defense then got in on the action with strong support from
Justin Cox(40), Gavin Harley(24) and Ray ("Macho")Ganley-Ortiz.
Monroe Woodbury was able to tie the score when quarterback
Khalil Edney(3) attempted to salvage a play by throwing
a pass while in the grasp of a Crusader defender. The pass
was caught and returned for a touchdown by Monroe-Woodbury.
Edney(3) made up for it on another possession by hitting
a streaking Powell(21) with a sideline pass of 30 yards
that Powell caught and ran to the 5 yard line. Edney(3)
then finished off the drive with a touchdown run. The T-Bolts
are usually known as a running team but on this day there
were a lot of footballs in the air as quarterbacks Clarke(16)
and Edney(3) passed to Powell(21) and John-Luke Bogue(10)
to sustain drives. Powell(21) ended the scoring with his
second touchdown catch from Edney(3) of over 40 yards to
help the T-Bolts finish strong.
Other players who contributed
to this vicory were Dwayne Deloatch(84), Cohl Saunders(20),
Jihad Brogdan(42), Oscar Licea(44), Nivon Stufano(27) and
Randle Pierre(48).
T-BOLTS FALL IN TWIN CITY CLASSIC 11/25/06
On 11/25/06 of Thanksgiving weekend the Pee Wee T-Bolts
traveled to Winston-Salem, North Carolina for the Twin
City Classic and suffered a 32-7 loss to Maryland.
This was a tough game to watch as the Maryland team
showed up in purple and black uniforms that nearly
matched the T-Bolts all purple home uniforms. At halftime
of this game the T-Bolts added a white strip of tape
to their helmets to help distinguish their players
from the Maryland team.
The T-Bolt offense opened with
a classic T-bolt drive featuring the running of Gavin Harley,
Donovan Poweell and Cohl Saunders. Quarterbacks Khalil
"Pop" Edney and Joe Clarke displayed the passing to
Powell and ends Jose Encarnacion and John-Luke Bogue
that has been successful all season. However, the T-Bolts
turned the ball over in the redzone of the Maryland
team twice and also had an interception returned for
a touchdown.
The Maryland team lead at the half 13-0
and quickly added a third quarter touchdown before
the T-Bolt offense moved the ball downfield..
Quarterback Joe Clarke then ran
a quarterback draw 13 yards for a touchdown. Clarke
then passed to Khalil Edney for the extra point, reducing
the score to 18-7 with 12 minutes left in the fourth
quarter, and the momentum on the T-Bolts side. But
the Maryland team was able to score again with 6 minutes
to go increasing the lead to 25-7.
