Lions Overcome Valley Cottage 18-0

9/26

The Lions and the Valley Cottage Indians got together this past Sunday in Nyack for a RCPWL Jr. Pee Wee matchup.

The two teams began the game with exchanges of possession after the Indians received the football first.
The first break in the game came when Lion Makhel Wilson recovered the Indian runners fumble on the Valley Cottage 42 yard line as the first quarter ended.

On the next Lion drive, blocking by JohnRyan Freeman, Steven McQuillar and Alfonso Garcia helped spring running backs Tairus White-Edney and Jake Tommarello for long gains. Quarterback Romeo Holden ended the drive with a swift 35 yard touchdown run to give the Lions a 6-0 lead. Valley Cottage responded with their strongest drive of the day but their quarterback was intercepted by Holden just before halftime.

In the second half, the Lions offense began to move the ball through the air when Romeo Holden passed to Jaishon Spady for a 35 yard reception. the play was called back due to penalty, but the Lions had momentum in the game.

Runs by Drew Tommarello and a Myles Taylor 4th down and one conversion set up a 55 yard touchdown run by Jamal Dallas behind Corey Thomas, Jaylin Mcghee and Mykai Joyner blocks.

From there the Lion defense took control of the game. Romeo Holden ended another Indian drive with an interception while Barry Lee, Storm Jones-Alleyne, Morgan Paul registered tackles behind the line of scrimmage.

The Lions extended the lead in the fourth quarter when quarterback Myles Taylor completed a 35 yard pass to Jaylin McGhee on the 4 yard line that set up a Jamal Dallas four yard touchdown run and final scoring.

Other Lions who played well included Steven Patterson, Jordan Forrest, Myles Ward, Shameek Goodman, Jarrett Haines, Aidan Lilly, and Malik Hamilton.
