Chiefs Over Mo' Better 33-0 11/11/07
The Chiefs returned to Memorial Field in Mount Vernon for the first time since NRYTL moved from the Westchester Pop Warner League to the Rockland League. They played an old rival in MoBetter Blues from Brooklyn and came away with a convincing 33-0 victory.
The Chiefs defense pinned MoBetter deep after their first possession. The Blues decided to go for a fourth and short on their own 30 yard line, and the Chiefs defense held. The Chiefs offense capitalized on the field position when Khalil "Pop" Edney(7) passed to Exander Rosado(2) in the flat. Rosado weaved his way through the MoBetter secondary, picked up a block by Jordan Frenza(1) and scored. The Chiefs defense, led by Sean Windley(94), Eric Bell(12), Ray Ganley(19), and Enrique Valencia(31) continued to play well and quickly gave the ball back to its offense. Frenza(1) ended the next Chief offensive series with a 25 yard dart around left end for a score. Khalil Edney(7), Eric Bell(12) and Jose Encarnacion(17) all contributed touchdowns in another decisive victory for the Chiefs.
Other Chiefs who played well in this game were Brandeis Minyard(91), Paul Verni(75), Rashaan Davis(9), John Luke Bogue(40), Malik Taylor(15), Anthony basso(52), Cohl Saunders(34) and Shayne Davidson(22).
This coming Sunday the Chiefs will face another traditional rival as an undefeated Mount Vernon team comes to Fosina field. These two teams scrimmaged in the pre-season and it should prove to be a good game.
For the 2007 season, game articles, photos and possible video will be posted mid-week following Sunday's games.
