NRYTL president Joe Fosina, who inserted more humor in remembering just a few of the many funny stories in his time with NRYTL.
Below are excerpts
NRYTL integration
".........I see we have the Burgoss twins here tonight(1970's)...They were responsible for intergrating NRYTL........
They were the first Puerto Ricans......."
Fosina Field Dedication,
"......In '97 they named the field after me because they thought I was dead..............man were they shocked when I showed up at the dedication......"
Parachute Training,
".........In the 80's we were to fly away on a bowl trip. We had a player, Earl Canteen (11 or 12 at the time), who missed three days of practice. I saw him walking on North Avenue and I said, Earl where have you been?, you haven't been at practice. Earl gave me his excuse and I said, well you can't fly with us because you missed parachute practice. Earl said "parachute practice?"...i said yes, they came and showed the entire team how to parachute in case the plane goes down. Earl says "oh man Joe...i will do anything to go"...So i say...I tell you what Earl....come by my house tonight and you and I will go to New Rochelle High School and I will show you how to parachute off of the top of the building...........So Earl shows up at my house that night, and my wife Mickey answers the door with no knowledge of this and Earl explains the story to her, he is almost in tears when he finds out I am not home and he might not be able to go to the bowl game because he missed "parachute practice............"
